NORTH SIOUX CITY, S.D., March 19, 1997 - For the second year, Gateway 2000 sold more personal computers for commercial use through General Services Administration (GSA) Multiple Award Schedule (70B/C) than any other direct PC supplier according to sales figures recently released by the GSA and the International Data Corporation (IDC). Gateway’s 1996 sales from the GSA schedule exceeded $191 million according to IDC, making Gateway 2000 the leading direct manufacturer of PCs on GSA Schedule and number 2 supplier overall. This sales level represents a 133% increase over 1995 levels and registered the largest dollar sales growth of any GSA contract supplier. Gateway 2000 is represented on the schedule by its Federal Sales team, part of the company’s rapidly growing Major Accounts Division which also includes teams dedicated to Fortune 1000 corporations, education, state and local government, and value added reseller segments.
