How to Use the Faxing Features of FaxWorks 3.0

This document contains a brief description of how to send and receive fax documents with the FaxWorks 3.0 software. This document is not meant to replace your on-line help, only to assist you in learning the basics of this faxing program.

Quick Fax from within FaxWorks.

  1. This feature allows you to send a one page fax cover sheet with a brief message from within FaxWorks. From the Call Center, click on the Quick Fax button on the right hand side of the screen. This takes you into the Quick Fax window.

  2. In the Send To boxes, enter the name, telephone number, and address(es) of the person or people that you are sending the fax to.

Note: The Comment box is for any notes to yourself that you want associated with this fax, not the note that you want to send.

  3. Under the Fax Cover Sheet box, select the type of Fax Cover Sheet that you want to send. Once you select the sheet from the list, the cover sheet is displayed in the box to the right.

  4. Click on the Note button in the Fax Cover Sheet box to bring up the Cover Sheet Notes window. Type in your message then click on OK to return to the Quick Fax window.

  5. On the lower right hand side of the screen, click on the Send button to send the fax. A screen scrolls by as the cover sheet is created. The phone number is dialed and the right hand corner of the Call Center screen shows the fax progress.

Faxing from a Windows Application

Complete a document in the Windows application you wish to fax from. Choose the print option from the application. Make sure that FX-Works is set as the default printer. After clicking OK, the Send Fax dialog box will appear. Complete the information requested, then click on the Send button. After the fax is complete your application window reappears.

Quick Dial Setup

Quick Dial Setup is used for saving settings of frequently used fax numbers.

  1. From the Call Center - Mailbox 1 window, click on the button on the lower right hand side of the screen labeled Quick Dial Setup.

  2. When the Quick Dial Setup window appears, click one of the numbered tabs along the top of the screen. This allows you to set up a new modem connection. Under the heading Quick Button Type, make sure that the black dot is in the circle to the left of Quick Fax.

  3. Enter the number, name and address of the person that you are attempting to fax to.

  4. Once you have finished typing in the necessary information, click on the Quick Icon button on the upper right hand side of the window to select a unique icon for this entry. This makes it easier to remember what the individual buttons in the Call Center are for. Click on OK to return to the Call Center.

  5. Under the Quick Dial settings you should see the new icon button that you just selected. Click on that button to dial the modem and send your fax.

Note: The only requirement for receiving a fax document is that the Call Center be open. You do not have to be within the Call Center program to receive a fax and the Call Center does not have to be maximized on your screen.
