This document assumes that Tranxit 2.0 is installed on both computers. Make sure the Infrared module is connected to the serial port on the desktop before opening the TranXit software. For instructions on installing and configuring TranXit 2.0, refer to FaxBack® document 3126.
This section assumes that the printer driver is installed properly. BOTH the computers using TranXit 2.0 must be set up using the following steps before you can print remotely.
- At the Windows 95 Desktop, click the Start button in the lower left hand corner of the screen. Click the word Programs that appears on the menu. Click the word TranXit2 then click TranXit to open the application.
- Across the top of the TranXit window are two tabs: File Transfer and Print Redirector. Click the Print Redirector tab to view the Printpro Status and Setup window.
- From the menu bar at the top, click the Printpro menu item, and click Printer Connection from the pull down menu. The Printers Folder opens. Right click the printer being used, and from the pull down menu click Properties.
- At the printers Properties window, there will be several tabs across the top of the window, depending on the printer installed. Click the Details tab. In the Print to the Following Port box, verify that the physical printing port on the back of the system is selected, usually LPT1(Printer Port). If the port is different, click on the down arrow next to the Print the following Port box, and select the correct port from the pull down list. Click OK to close the properties window, and then close the printers window.
- Back at the TranXit program, from the menu bar at the top, click the Printpro menu item. Then click Enable from the pull down menu. A Printpro Setup and Status window appears prompting that the redirection driver is properly installed. Click the OK button to return to the TranXit program. The system is now configured for print redirection.
- Proceed to the other computer. Repeat steps 1-5 on the second computer. Once BOTH computers are actively running the TranXit program, you can print to a remote computer.
