Issue: In PowerPoint 7.0, if an attempt is made to save a file as a PowerPoint 4.0 file (to export the file to another system or printer), an error will appear stating that the system cannot save the file in a PowerPoint 4.0 format.

Resolution: Follow the steps below to resolve this issue.

1. Save your Registry by unattribing and copying the SYSTEM.DAT and USER.DAT to backup files.

   If you are uncertain about the unattrib and copy procedure, contact Techincal Support for assistance.

2. Click on Start, Run, and type REGEDIT. Click on Edit and then Find. Search for PowerPoint.
3. Delete all references to PowerPoint.
4. Re-enter into PowerPoint, and try to save the file. Remember to change the Save as file type to MS PowerPoint 4.0.
5. In the unlikely event there is a registry error, choose to reboot. If this does not resolve the registry error, restore from backup by clicking on the Restore button on the error message.
6. The error will not repeat, and the PowerPoint Save As selection will work fine.
