Dear NewTek customers, partners and friends,

As you may have heard, later this year NewTek will move from our corporate headquarters in Topeka, Kansas, to new headquarters in Texas. We are very excited about the move. Although there's much we'll miss about our long-time home in Topeka, we can't wait to start working in the brand new facility in Texas. For a number of reasons, we feel strongly that Texas will provide NewTek with the best possible environment to support our goals of turning out the consistently high-quality software products that our users need and deserve.

Keeping all of you up-to-date on our activities and plans remains a top priority for us at NewTek. The following is the latest information on our move, in the form of a recent press release. We understand that big changes like this can be a little jarring at first, but we know you'll see that this move is good for everyone: the rapidly growing NewTek staff, our loyal customers and supporters, our business partners, and everyone who uses our software products.

If at any time you have any questions or concerns regarding our relocation, or any other aspects of our business, we are happy answer them. We look forward to hearing from you soon.

Sincerely,

NewTek, Inc.

NewTek, Inc. to Relocate Corporate Headquarters to Texas

New facility will better equip NewTek to deliver enhanced products and services to its customers and channel partners

TOPEKA, Kansas, June 9, 1997 NewTek, Inc., maker of LightWave 3D, one of the industry's most powerful photorealistic programs for desktop computers, today announced it will move its corporate headquarters from Topeka, Kansas to Texas. The move to a much larger facility will allow NewTek to consolidate its headquarters in Topeka and its sales and marketing office in Boulder into one central location.

"This move will enable us to deliver enhanced products and services more quickly, and will allow us to augment our inside sales, customer service and technical support groups with extremely qualified individuals," stated Dwight Parscale, president and CEO, NewTek. "The opportunity to locate in proximity to other major concentrations of high-technology companies, coupled with Texas' robust economy, business-friendly policies and enviable quality of life, will provide both the environment and personnel we need as we continue to grow and expand."

Many cities have vied to host NewTek's new corporate headquarters before NewTek decided on Texas. "Various cities, including San Antonio and Austin, have been extremely helpful and have offered to make the logistics of this move very attractive through various concessions and incentives. We strongly believe this new venue represents a great opportunity for us to better serve our valued dealers and customers," added Parscale.

The new facility in Texas will be constructed from the ground up, giving NewTek the freedom and ability to customize the building and tailor it to fit the specific needs of the business. An important aspect of the new facility will be its highly automated customer service databases, which will streamline order entry and enable NewTek to be increasingly responsive to customers' needs.

NewTek also announced that it will open a LightWave 3D development and training office in San Francisco, bringing it closer to the high technology and multimedia environment throughout the areas in and around Silicon Valley. This will give NewTek the advantage of proximity to its platform vendors, as well as to the multimedia talent and business environment of Hollywood and surrounding areas.

"Because many LightWave 3D customers in the Bay area use the software to create special effects for major motion pictures, television shows and familiar commercials, we are constantly soliciting them for feedback and incorporating their suggestions into our software to make it more functional, user-friendly and productive. Being closer to where our users actually create their work will better facilitate that interchange and dialogue process," stated Julian Critchfield, vice president, Research and Development. Both the Texas and California offices will include state-of-the-art training facilities for NewTek's dealers and distributors.

Headquartered in Topeka, Kansas, NewTek, Inc. is the leader in providing full-featured video editing and special effects tools that allow anyone to produce professional video and graphics. The company's products are used worldwide on projects from home video to feature film and have won awards for television shows such as Babylon 5 and Star Trek.
