Amiga Startup Problems

Product: Toaster Flyer Lightwave

Platforms: Amiga

Problem: Amiga will not start.

1) It is plugged in?

Are all peripherals, drives, and external equipment plugged in and turned on? If not, turn them on and restart.

2) Are all circuit boards inserted fully?

If you get a flash of yellow, check to see that the CPU board is seated, and the chip RAM is seated and functioning.

If the Toaster, the Flyer or another card is not fully pushed into its slot, the system may be unable to start. Press gently, but firmly on all cards to make sure they are seated, and then restart.

3) Are all cables properly connected?

Check that any cables you have handled are fully inserted into their proper connections, and that none are connected backwards to the port.

4) Have you removed or changed any Flyer drives?

If you have removed a Flyer drive, or changed its SCSI ID number, then your Amiga is having trouble starting because it is looking for a now-missing Flyer drive. The icon for the device driver is causing the problem. You will need to restart you system with a bootable floppy, such as a Workbench diskette, and remove the icon from the SYS:DEVS/DOS Drivers directory. If you have added a new drive, or changed a drive's SCSI ID number, you will have to put the correct device driver into the SYS:DEVS/DOS drivers directory. These can be located in the SYS:STORAGE/DOS Drivers directory.
