PC Magazine This month

Welcome! You've arrived at PC Magazine -- the UK's number one Labs-based magazine, where you'll find unrivalled comparative reviews, technical coverage and extended product analysis. As you'll have noticed, our site has changed, but all the great information you expect from PC Magazine is still right here on ZDNet UK as well as plenty of new information within our new, easy to navigate, channelled structure.

THIS MONTH IN PC MAGAZINE!
In PC Magazine's August issue, now on sale, we look at the first 56Kbps modems from Diamond and Motorola and see if now is the time to buy. The annual Service and Reliability Survey is out, casting light on which brands served you best. We've also got full comparative ZD Labs tests and reviews on LCD monitors and small-business accounting packages. Our Productivity section includes a tutor on partitioning your hard drive to run multiple operating systems and an overview of how XML could increase the flexibility of document structuring for the Web. Why not subscribe right now to make sure you get us every month?

1997 Service and Reliability

*1997 Service and Reliability Survey
The annual Service and Reliability Survey once again presents your experiences of customer service and reliability for your desktop and portable PC purchases, and for the first time, for servers and personal printers too.

*Small-business accounting
If you're running a small business, finding the time to sort out the company accounts is probably low on your list of priorities, until the tax man comes knocking. However, contracting a professional accountant can be expensive. The answer could be a software package that takes the bother out of balancing the books.

LCD monitors

*LCD monitors
The biggest piece of equipment on your desk is almost certainly your monitor--but that could be about to change. Flat-panel LCD screens are breaking free of notebook displays and projection systems, and heading for your desktop. Far slimmer, lighter and sharper than traditional CRT monitors, an LCD screen could be the view of the future.

*Network analysers
Networks, as any LAN manager will tell you, can be a nightmare. Keeping track of all the traffic takes a gargantuan effort, and of course, the bigger they are, the harder they fall. A network analyser can be an extra set of eyes and ears, warning you when things aren't right and helping you with the diagnosis.
