Submitting Images to NewTekniques

Guidelines Before Submitting

Before submitting an image, the following criteria must be met:

• The image must be your own original work.
• The image must not have been printed in any other magazine.
• You must own all the rights to the image.

NewTekniques only accepts first serial rights on images meaning that the image must not have appeared in any other magazine. The image also must not be submitted to any other magazine during the time it is being considered for publishing in NewTekniques.

Information Accompanying Images

When you submit your image, please include the following information:

• Your name
• Company name if applicable
• The name of the image
• What was used to creat the image
• A 2-3 sentence description of the image
• Your phone number
• Your E-mail address if applicable

If you do not wish your phone number or E-mail address to appear with the image, please state so. We still need your phone number and address for confirmation purposes.

Include the following phrase:

"I hereby assign first serial rights for publication of my (put image name here) image to NewTekniques magazine and Advanstar Communications. Under penalty of law I ascertain that the following are true:

• (Put image name here) is my original work and I own the rights to it.

• (Put image name here) has not appeared in any other magazines and has not been submitted to any other magazines, except NewTekniques, for publishing considerations.

• I am hereby giving NewTekniques magazine and Advanstar Communications the rights to publish (put image name here) in NewTekniques."

If you are E-Mailing your image, print your name under the above and print the date. If you are snail mailing your image on a disk, please sign under the above statement and print the date.

How To Submit An Image

• Email Submissions - The image must be saved in .jpg or .tif format and sent as an attachment to jtracy@main.rosenet.net

• Mail Submissions - The image must be saved on a high density disk in .jpg or .tif format and sent to the following address:

What Happens After You Submit An Image

Once an image has been submitted you will be contacted within 48 hours to let you know that the image has arrived. Within two weeks you should be notified if the image has been accepted for publication. Printing reader images is a service of NewTekniques magazine so there is no monetary exchange.

What Types Of Images Are Acceptable

Any type of image created with a NewTek product. This includes LightWave 3D, ToasterPaint, and ToasterCG.
