"Cannot Obtain Audio Services" Error
Product: Flyer Toaster
Platforms: 2000 3000 3000T 4000 4000T
Problem: When the Toaster or Flyer software is run, startup
fails with the error message "Cannot obtain audio
services."
This problem occurs on Amiga 4000 systems equipped with
the Expansion Systems product "DataFlyer SCSI+", which is a SCSI
adaptor for the Amiga 4000 IDE port. The driver program
supplied with this product is called "DFMOUNT", and is
used to scan for and mount any SCSI hard drives found on
the SCSI bus. The problem occurs when DFMOUNT is told to
search a SCSI unit number that does not have a drive present.
In the startup-sequence file the line that is listed as:
DFMount >NIL: 2 3 4 5 6
needs to be changed so that only the hard drives which are
actually present are searched for.
Example:
DFMount >NIL:6
This would indicate that only one hard drive is attached,
and its SCSI ID is 6.
This information is included in the Appendices to the Toaster and Flyer
4.x manuals. This may apply to other versions of the DataFlyer which
use the DFMount command.
