Can't Run A Toaster Graphics Application (Memory related issues)

Product: Video Toaster, Flyer

Platforms: 2000 3000 3000T 4000 4000T

Problem: Cannot Run a Toaster Application.

1) If your system runs fine, but you suddenly find that you cannot enter one of the Toaster's video graphics programs, check the following:
(a) Is another Toaster application running?

If so, you may need to shut it down before you can free up enough Chip RAM to run another.

(Open the Programs pop-up, hold Shift and click on the application that is running. It will have an asterisk beside it if it is running.)

(b) Is another graphics program running?

You may need to go back to the Workbench and check. Press the Left Amiga key and the letter "m" to cycle the Amiga screens and go back to the Workbench.

(c) Memory may be fragmented. You may need to exit the Toaster, power down, and restart.
2) Can't Quit the Switcher/Sequencer.

In extreme cases where there is not enough available RAM and you select the ShutDown option from the Views pop-up, the Toaster will be unable to quit. The lack of memory is so severe that there is not enough RAM to display the "Are you sure you want to quit?" message.

You might check to see if any of the Toaster's applications is running, and shut it down. However, the sure-fire way to quit in this case is to press the keyboard shortcut for the ShutDown command: Ctrl+L Alt+F10. This bypasses the confirmation message and exits the Toaster.
