NASA's continuing exploration of the invisible universe !
A Welcome from the National Aeronautics & Space Administration.
Astro-2 is a high-tech observatory flying for 16 days in the payload bay of the Space Shuttle Endeavour during the STS-67 mission. The Astro-2 instruments allow astronomers to view stars, galaxies, planets and quasars in ultraviolet light, which is invisible to our eye. Astronomers from around the country and the world expect to make many new discoveries about the cosmos during the Astro-2 mission.
These WWW pages will allow you to learn more about the Astro-2 experiments, share in the discoveries made by astronomers, and, for the first time, participate in a Shuttle mission AS IT'S HAPPENING !
So join us as Astro-2 takes flight into the unknown of the invisible universe by selecting any of the buttons in the display above or in this text area.
On these pages you will find descriptions of the Astro-2 payload and the Shuttle on the Hardware and Science page. You can meet the Flight Crew on board, and learn about the NASA Team supporting them from the ground.
You can also read the Flight Log to find out what's happened so far during the mission, or Come Aboard to check what's happening RIGHT NOW, with video and audio clips from the Shuttle.
Disembark in our Visitor's Port, where you can enter your name in our guest register and ask questions of the Astro Team. Also, take the Astro Quiz, and become an Honorary Astro-2 Team Member!
