The `F9' key will activate the option to create a Flexible
Image Transport System (FITS) format file of the -
data generated
by uvplot. This option is used to create a file which can be
read in by any astronomical data analysis package which can
import FITS files, such as AIPS. The default filename used
(if none is given) is `uvfits.0', allowing each new version
to be incremented automatically. Otherwise the user can select
any filename possible within the limitations imposed by DOS (see below).
In addition to this the `F8' key (which is available only in this mode) can be used to toggle on the generation of Gaussian noise to be added to the FITSdata. This will add a degree of 'reality' to the simulated data though only baseline loise will be added and other instremental effects are not accounted for. The `F8' key can only be used after FITS mode has been toggled on. As indicated by the FITS sign in the status bar. Otherwise nothing will happen when FITS is off.
