The first acquisitions and gifts go back to 1984, the date of
the museum's inauguration.
The collection is representative of
international creation since 1970. It presents the largest European
collection of installations ever brought together.
The museum is a
genuine center of creation, and sponsors works that are directly
executed by living artists for its collection. These creations account
for 40% of the collection. Certain of them occupy more than 500 m2.
