How to use this Dictionary

You may use either English or Russian to look up words in this electronic Dictionary. All entries matching your requested search string will be displayed. Use ambiguous strings judicially -- you will get a lot of hits -- best to learn how to work regular expressions. Both, English-to-Russian and Russian-to-English versions are presented for your perusal; both are sorted by their respective alphabets.

If you need to download Cyrillic fonts take a look at the Russian encodings page.

Related Resources

For those of you who do not have access to the Web (and can't read this anyway but your nice friends might tell you about it) and those of you whose Web browsers do not support forms, (hey, get real, get Netscape!) ask-the-dictionary-by-mail is available. Use it in good health.

You may also want to consult another Russian-English dictionary at http://www.elvis.ru/cgi-bin/mtrans. You will need KOI-8.

Bugs you will surely see: Terms with identical translations are appended to one another instead of being placed on separate lines. Transliterated Russian is very flaky -- you cannot use it for input and the output looks funny.
