ST:TNG Season 2
Notes
The second season started late due to a strike by script writers
in Hollywood; as a result there are only 22 episodes in this season
instead of the 26 in other seasons.
Gates McFadden as Dr Beverly Crusher
did not appear at all in this season.
Ten Forward became a regular set at the start of this season.
The costumes for female extras changed from the dress seen in the
first season to the one piece jumpsuit worn by the main characters.
Episode Details
While preparing to transport a deadly plague to a research lab, the crew
is stunned by the announcement of Counselor Troi's pregnancy.
Her child develops at an incredible rate, growing in a day the amount a
human child would grow in a year.
The crew is held hostage in a mysterious void by a being who wishes to
observe the many ways in which humans die.
In frustration at the ease with which Data solves apparently complex
Sherlock Holmes mysteries, Geordi programs the Enterprise computer to
create a worthy advisary for Data. The result is a self-aware hologram
(Moriaty) who takes control of the ship and threatens Dr. Pulaski's life.
While the Enterprise crew play host to a witty renegade captain, Data
struggles to acquire a sense of humor.
They are then confronted by two alien ships who both demand custody of
Captain Okona for grevious crimes, but is he really a criminal?
The future of a warring planet depends on a deaf mediator, who suddenly
loses his ability to communicate when his ``Chorus'' of interpretors are
shot by a member of one of the factions.
Troi tries to pursuade him to continue the negotiations despite their
deaths.
A brilliant but terminally ill scientist seeks eternal life by
transferring his mind into Data's body.
The crew are alarmed at the sharp change in Data's character as
the scientist's personality takes over.
The crew grapples with a mysterious disease which accelerates the aging
process, causing humans to die of old age within a matter of days.
When Dr Pulaski becomes exposed, the race is on to find a cure, and
the genetically engineered ``children'' at a reseach centre seem to
hold the answer.
Riker's loyalties are put to the test when he is assigned to a Klingon
vessel which plans to attack the Enterprise.
In the meantime, a visiting alien fails to report a serious problem because
his culture expects him also to provide a solution, and he does not yet
have one.
When Data refuses to be disassembled for research purposes, Picard is
enlisted to defend his rights in court while Riker must take the role
of advocate.
Wesley finds romance with the beautiful young ruler of Daled Four whose
secret power could destroy the Enterprise and her crew.
When the Enterprises sister ship, the USS Yamamto explodes, the Enterprise
retraces its last mission, an investigation of a long dead civilisation.
Soon the Enterprise's computer system falls prey to a mysterious electronic
"virus" which programs the ship to self destruct.
Investigating the discovery of a piece of metal bearing a NASA
insignia, the Away Team finds itself trapped in the world of
``The Hotel Royale'', a novel come to life.
The U.S.S. Enterprise discovers a Federation shuttle containing an exact
double of Captain Picard from six hours in the future.
But why had the other Captain Picard left the Enterprise - what fate
awaits them?
Riker's long-lost father reappears on the eve of his departure to become
captain on a new starship while Wesley tries to cheer up Worf who is missing
an important Klingon anniversary ritual.
Data breaks the Prime Directive in a race against time to save the life
of a little alien girl on a planet doomed to destruction.
The crew is hurled a great distance by the malevolent "Q", who sets them
up for destruction by a race of half-human, half-robot aliens known as the
Borg.
While Picard fights for his life in surgery, Geordi is held hostage by the
leaders of an alien race who acquire technology by theft, deceit and blackmail.
The crew's rescue of a missing earth colony leads to the discovery of a
civilization composed entirely of clones.
The clones attempt to steal new DNA patterns from the Enterprise crew
because their own patterns are degenerating each time the cloning process
takes place.
In her search for the perfect mate, Troi's mother beams aboard the
Enterprise and sets her sights on Captain Picard.
He attempts to hide in the holodeck world of Dixon Hill, but Lwaxana
tracks him down.
An official mission becomes a personal matter when Worf's former love,
K'Ehleyr, sent to the Enterprise to help deal with a Klingon vessel that
is just returning from an 80-year long secret mission and know nothing
of the peace treaty now in place with the Federation.
A simulated war game turns deadly when the crew is ambushed by a Ferengi
battleship.
With the Enterprise crippled in the attack, Picard must try to get Riker,
Geordi and the others back on board.
Commander Riker is struck down by a deadly microbe which invades his
central nervous system and attacks his brain.
(much of this episode is composed of clips from previous stories).
