Dave Enever (UK) Skipper
Dave has worked as a Greenpeace skipper for 10 years, but this is his first voyage on the Rainbow Warrior. Prior to Greenpeace, he was Director of Ports for the Government of Vanuatu between 1983- 6. He has skippered the Sirium, the Moby Dick and Solo in the Mediterranean, United States and North west Europe. Dave was born in Cardiff, raised in London, and now lives in Frinton on Sea.
Steve Sawyer (US) Campaigner
Steve joined Greenpeace as a canvasser in the US in 1978. IN 1985 he was the nuclear campaigner on board the Rainbow Warrior, assisting with the evacuation of the people of Rongelap from their atoll in the Marshall Islands which was contaminated from atmospheric nuclear tests. On July 10 1985, the day French secret service agents bombed the RW, he was celebrating his birthday aboard the Rainbow Warrior in Auckland. He later became Executive Director of Greenpeace USA, then Executive Director of Greenpeace International, and is now on the Board of Greenpeace International.
Steve Morgan (UK) Greenpeace photographer
Steve lives in Bath and worked as a news photographer before working for the last 10 years for Greenpeace. He has been photographer on campaigns against whaling expeditions in the Antarctic, nuclear test protests at Novaya Zemlya (former USSR test site), and boat tours in the Amazon, Siberia and Mediterranean.
Pamela Ward (US) engineer
Pam comes from Colombus, Ohio, and now lives in Mountain View, California, near San Francisco. She formerly worked for the US Navy.
Todd Thompson (NZ) mate
Todd is from the Bay of Islands and formerly sailed on the R. Tucker Thompson for eight years.
Kate Lecchi (NZ) assistant cook
Kate is from Wellington. She dropped out of film school to become an environmental activist. This is her first voyage with Greenpeace.
Mimo Casa (Italy) engineer
Mimo is from Ischia, and has spent 18 months working for Greenpeace. He formerly worked in the merchant marine and as a diver.
Jean-Luc Thierry (France) campaigner
Jean-Luc lives in Paris and is a fulltime campaigner for Greenpeace. He was formerly a printer.
Richard (Alice) Leney (Australia) deck mechanic
Alice has worked for Greenpeace for six years on ships, and before that was a fitter. He was born in Dorset, the UK, and now lives in Victoria, Australia.
Julien Prieur (France) deckhand
Julien lives in Limoges and is a law student. He has sailed most of his life and comes from a family well-known for its ecological activism. His father, Michel Prieur is a professor in environmental law at the University of Limoges, and together with his mother Bernadette Prieur, has led campaigns against the nuclear industry in France for the past 20 years.
Gene O'Callaghan (Australia) age 36, camera operator
Gene is a freelance cameraman who has lived in London for the past 3 years. He comes from Melbourne, Australia.
Philip Pupuka (Solomon Islands) deckhand
Philip is a Greenpeace campaigner in the Solomons, fighting the clear-feeling of Pacific rainforest. He joined Greenpeace in 1989 sailing on the Rainbow Warrior, and has sailed to Moruroa in 1990 and 1992.
Jean-Marc van Chinh (France) cook Jami is French but has lived in French Polynesia on Moorea since 1992. He recently moved to Nuku Hiva, in the Marquesas Islands.
Letitia Rastoin (France) deckhand
Letitia is a biology student and has worked with Greenpeace ships for the past three years.
Madeleine Habib (Australia) third mate
Madeleine comes from Airlie Beach, Queensland. She has worked as a sailor on both commercial and private vessels for several years, and this is her first voyage with Greenpeace. She is half Egyptian.
Henk Haazen (Netherlands/New Zealand) bosun
Henk Haazen was a crew member on board the Rainbow Warrior in 1985 when the vessel was bombed by the French secret service. He has since been Antarctic campaign logistics organiser for Greenpeace and is now building his own ice-strengthened yacht.
Thom Looney (US) radio officer
Thom has spent 6 years with Greenpeace as a radio officer. Before that he worked in the theatre, film, and television. He lives in the Appalachian foothills of South Carolina with Abby, two feral cats, and a dog named Maxine.
Peter Laue (US) chief engineer
Peter went to sea 20 years ago on deep sea towboats. Prior to that he managed a manufacturing plant and was a home builder. He joined Greenpeace ships in 1989.
Milly Tarai (Fiji) doctor
Milly is from Nausori, near Suva, Fiji. She studied medicine in Fiji and Adelaide, Australia. This is her first voyage with Greenpeace.
Andy Troia (US) first mate
Andy is from Seattle.
Stephanie Mills (New Zealand) campaign coordinator
Stephanie joined Greenpeace in 1990 after working for five years with the British Campaign for Nuclear disarmament in London. She was campaigner on board the Rainbow Warrior when it sailed to Moruroa in 1990 and 1992. From August 1992-1994, she was campaign manager of Greenpeace New Zealand, and since then she has been coordinator of Greenpeace International's nuclear non- proliferation and testing campaign.
