What's New in PC Developer Support
- Intended for use by system manufacturers and peripheral vendors, the
Intel Architecture Labs' Native Signal Processing
Program suggests a baseline set of system capabilities that offer scalable
performance, multimedia (video, audio, animation), communications (networking,
voice, fax/modem), ease of use and manageability (ease of upgrading and system
and power management) while maintaining the cost-effectiveness needed for
mainstream PCs.
- On May 19, 1995 the WinSock Group announced the availability of the API
specification for Windows Sockets 2. Winsock
2 offers transport independence so the familiar sockets interface may be
used on virtually any network transport such as TCP/IP, IPX/SPX, and NetBEUI.
In addition, WinSock 2 provides higher performance I/O, shared sockets, quality
of service and many other features.
- Compaq, Digital, IBM, Intel, Microsoft, NEC and Northern Telecom
announce the availability of a new serial bus connectivity standard -- Universal Serial Bus (USB)

- Intel Corporation announces its support of the new Universal Serial Bus (USB) standard
