White ``flags'' of surrender made of bedsheets hang from the windows of the
Hôtel Continental on the
rue de Castiglione, near
place Vendôme.
After signing the
Act of Surrender at the Préfecture de police,
the victorious
Général Leclerc
leaves with
General von Choltitz
(seated just behind Leclerc) for the headquarters of
the 2nd French Armored Division at Gare Montparnasse.
