PSINet and Quarterdeck to Provide Fast, Reliable, Low-Cost Internet Access

SANTA MONICA, CA & HERNDON, VA, -- June 5, 1995 -- Quarterdeck Corporation. (Nasdaq: QDEK), and Performance Systems International, Inc. (PSINet; Nasdaq:PSIX) today announced that they will provide Connect and Play access to the Internet from Quarterdeck's next-generation Internet Products planned for release later this month. Quarterdeck software users will receive a free PSINet Instant InterRamp account, allowing them to explore the Net's resources at no cost for seven days.

This partnership will allow Quarterdeck customers to create an Internet account in under 10 minutes. PSINet's Instant InterRamp makes this possible by automatically configuring the system software and application software. Instant InterRamp configures the user's account so that all of the arcane information needed to connect to the Internet is taken care of quickly and easily.

The agreement between the companies will result in two product offerings. Quarterdeck will distribute the Internet application suite via its retail channels with PSINet's Instant InterRamp service as an Internet access option. PSINet will distribute Quarterdeck's Internet application suite as part of the Instant InterRamp software series, marketed and promoted by PSINet.

InterRamp users can connect directly to the Internet at up to 28,800 bits per second (bps) for fast World Wide Web access. For users who want even higher port speeds, PSINet offers the option of 64K bps ISDN service.

PSINet's Instant InterRamp service offers users the choice of two payment plans; $9 for nine hours a month or $29 for 29 hours a month. Once users have exceeded their allotted time, additional hours are $1.50 per hour.
