The SYBASE® SQL Server 10 relational database management system (RDBMS) will be integrated with Silicon Graphics' WebFORCE CHALLENGE servers, enabling businesses and consumers to browse information on the Web and perform key information management functions such as transaction processing and customer profile tracking.
"Thanks to our relationship with Sybase, we can now provide vast new capabilities that allow Web site providers to market to individuals rather than to demographics," said Dr. Ross Bott, vice president and general manager of the Advanced Data Division at Silicon Graphics.
With the newly bundled Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop products, Silicon Graphics customers who purchase WebFORCE Indy and Indigo2 authoring systems receive additional software to complement the existing suite of digital media tools which come standard with all WebFORCE products.
"Combining Adobe tools with Silicon Graphics' WebFORCE authoring solutions is as revolutionary to on-line publishing in the '90s as the Macintosh was to desktop publishing in the '80s," said Furlong.
The bundled Adobe software is retroactive for all WebFORCE workstations that have been purchased previously and will be available on new systems within the next 30 days. WebFORCE workstations have entry level configuration of 8-bit, 133Mhz R4600 WebFORCE Indy system with 1GB system disk, 32Mb of memory and a 17-inch high-resolution color monitor.
