The plantations are in the Bay of Kealakekua in Kona Kai, where
captain Cook cast anchor for the first time in the eighteenth century. The first seedlings were brought from Brazil already at the beginning of the last century. On the slope of the two greatest active volcanos of the island they found ideal land and climate for the production of a sweet and not too sour coffee. The annual production is a few thousand sacks, and increases slowly. But it does not manage to comply with all the requests from the Japanese an American gourmets. In the United States they sell the Hawaiian coffee almost exclusively in present packets together with other typical products of the island. By now the coffee is a tradition there on Christmas Day. Hawaii Kona Kai is the exotic coffee par excellence. In a more and more demanding market, Hawaii Kona Kai will win the most refined tastings of Italy. Excellent for: coffee bars, pastry shops, tea rooms. |
