A Few Influential KZSU DJs
- Slag,
hosted by DJ Gabe, takes everything from the harshest Japanoise to the
most melodic Brit-pop and weaves them into a seamless musical tapestry.
Once upon a
time, I was listening to Slag when the music moved from industrial/ambient
to improvised flute, and it was several minutes before I realized that a
new song had begun. That was a segue that changed my idea of what a radio
show could be.
- Hammer, Anvil, and
Stirrup, with DJ Klee, specializes in avant-jazz and other fiercly
creative, improvised music. Klee is a DJ who can present extremely
difficult music in an accesible fashion. He helped me explore the
music I do not understand, rather than to run away from it.
- Extreme Conditions
Demand Extreme Responses, the brainchild of DJ Mike, is arguably
KZSU's most eclectic show. Tune in to hear Mike push the limits of a
radio show to a level beyond that which an ordinary mortal could
understand.
