Some browsers do not understand things like background colors (our homepage background is yellow, so we made our inline images with the same color, but if your browser does not read this information, the pages will not appear as intended). Also, some browsers do not understand the "center" extension, so pages designed to center graphics or text don't do that - they line up from the left margin instead. A few browsers compress graphics against our will, so that really nice images do not appear with the quality they in fact possess.
If you use these browsers, you can improve the way images appear.
If you are using AOL's browser, go to "members" then "set preferences" then "WWW" and select "uncompressed graphics." Now go to "advanced" and select "purge cache." You also need to go back to "members" and "preferences" and select "graphics" to make sure that jpeg compression quality is 100%. This will allow you to see the gallery images as they were painstakingly designed to be seen. You can do this right now while online.
If you are using GNN's browser, you need to go to "options" then "preferences" then "misc" and then DEselect "compressed graphics" (click on "compressed graphics" to remove the "X".)
You of course need to worry about whether what you see on your screen is truly representative of our art. We take particular care in making certain that the images we scan in are identical to those we see on our monitor. Since every system, browser, and every monitor is different, we cannot ensure that what you see and what we do look the same; the best we can do is take extreme care in putting our images online, and to provide you with a 16 million color, 53 KB scanned image of the Kodak® Q-60© color input target so that you can adjust your monitor settings if necessary in order to make sure you see what we see. This is what we use as our standard; it was scanned from a 4"x5" transparency at 800 dpi (a 45MB file), resized and compressed to a jpeg exactly as we do all our images. It is the ultimate standard of color balance.
If this stuff is boring, you can go directly to the gallery lobby and view some fantastic art. Alternatively, you can take a shortcut to move among all the parts of the gallery. Call us at (800) 237-2551 to order, or go to our order page to for more information about purchasing from the gallery. Send us e-mail at rbeckham@egallery.com to inquire about a painting, a print, or ordering information.
