The Electric Gallery: Northwest Myths

THE ELECTRIC GALLERY

Northwest Myths

Frank Woll began his formal instruction in Northwest Coastal art twelve years ago with Professor Bill Holm, then curator of the Burke Museum Northwest Coast collection. Woll had just returned from an anthropological expedition to live with the Kofan Indians, a hunter/gatherer tribe in the Ecuadorian Amazon basin. He studied anthropology, archeology, and lithics at Washington State University, where he took a particular interest in flintknapping and stone tool construction. Woll's work with metal sculpture and serigraphs derives from his exposure to the local indigenous imagery of the Pacific Northwest. He feels that his work is a visual translation between once separate cultures which now occupy the same land.

These serigraphs are hand screen printed on heavy cotton archival paper. Each is signed and numbered by the artist, and is accompanied by an explanation of the figures used in the context of the traditional myth of the Northwest Coast people. The prints are in small editions of 190 pieces.

You can take a walking tour through "Northwest Myths," or you can take a shortcut to move among all the rooms of the gallery. These serigraphs are available for purchase from The Electric Gallery. We'd also appreciate your giving us your comments on the art and our presentation.
