Best Guidelines on the Internet

Guidelines Overview

We have adopted a philosophy that assumes the honesty and good intent of our subscribers, therefore our services are provided in as unrestricted a manner as possible to allow our users to have the richest Internet experience possible.

The extent of the "rules" that we enforce on our users is simply what the law demands of us.

Regulations

  1. We are required by law to report any criminal activity that we become aware of. This applies particularly to software piracy. Be warned that if we find commercial software stored on our hard disk, we will report it and immediatly terminate your service.
  2. You may not make threats against another person via e-mail or news or any other electronic media/service we provide. We are prepared to defend your right to free speech to our fullest ability, but we will not defend you if you violate this simple rule.
  3. You may not mount an attack against our system or any other. This includes mail bombing (sending three or more unsolicited pieces of e-mail or files exceeding 60K), "hacking" or attempting to gain root access, tsunami or flood bots or annoyance utilities like "nuke" or "flash".
  4. You may not "spam" or flood the usenet with a single post to a large number newsgroups not related to the topic of your article.
  5. Forging of e-mail or postings (to include cancel messages, whether manual or automated) will not be tolerated and will cause the offending account to be closed.

Our Rules

  1. Only one dial-in per account at a time. This means that you cannot call in on two modems at the same time. You are allowed to Telnet in as many times at once as you like. If you are found logged in more than once over a modem connection we will automatically assume that your password has been compromised and will immediately suspend your account. There are some circumstances when we may permit multiple dial-ins, please contact us if you have a good reason to do so.
  2. Trying to "hack" root login on our machines is forbidden.
  3. Making public or providing any of our system files to other users of the Internet is forbidden.
  4. It is forbidden to run packet sniffers or similar programs.
  5. You may not disturb other users' files or directories.
  6. You may not run software designed to cause our system to stop working correctly.
  7. You may make whatever material you like available for FTP or WWW as long as it is legal. Users are given 200MB/day of bandwidth by default, and will be required to pay extra for any additional bandwidth they use. Please refer to the FAQ for specifics. For this reason, we do not recommend that users put adult material up for FTP/WWW, but we do not forbid it either.
  8. We simply ask that our users use common sense and try not to do things that cause us or other users of our service or the Internet any real harm.
