Managed Care Contracting Office

The University of Michigan Managed Care Office has been established to work collaboratively with organizations that directly purchase healthcare services or can influence where patients can seek treatment. We have existing relationships with employers, HMOs, TPAs, Re-insurers, Business Coalitions and Case Management Firms and are actively seeking new ones.

The University of Michigan Medical Center has worked hard to be a leader in health care. And although our approach to providing care made sense in the past, we realize it won't take us into the future. We have recognized the need to change and we're doing it. We're not finished yet, but we've made significant strides in how we deliver care - and at what cost. As always, we have the highest quality of care. That's one standard we'll never change.

One of the ways we've changed is in our ability to work directly with purchasers. We now have a fully-functioning contracting office and are actively seeking to establish a variety of relationships with direct purchasers from Centers of Excellence and carveouts to full risk-sharing arrangements. Virtually any service can be packaged; however, some of the most common are:
