YOUR SOLUTION SERVER EVALUATION SUPPORT PROCEDURES

Before you begin evaluating your Windows NT Server and Microsoft BackOffice software package, we would like to tell you about the many different ways you can get support during your installation. Please follow this escalation procedure so that you can get the best and most efficient service.

Use the online help - each stage of the installation process includes a help capability that can explain the screens and dialogs that you see. Further, on-line help and technical manuals are included with each CD. Hardcopy manuals may be ordered using the Solution Server Documentation Order Form included in your Solution Server kit information portfolio.

Use the Microsoft Fast Tips service - Microsoft provides a 24 hour, toll-free, fax-back support service that you can use to answer most common installation / usage questions. To use this service, call (800) 936-4400 and be ready with a fax number at which you can be reached.

Check Microsoft TechNet - your evaluation package includes a copy of Microsoft TechNet. This is the front-line resource for engineers and support professionals. Indeed, it is the primary tool that our own support staff use to resolve customers' problems. TechNet includes the Microsoft Knowledge Base, a database of over 50,000 articles with a rapid, full-text search engine that can be used to get the very latest support notes from all Microsoft products. Other things you can do with TechNet include: checking hardware compatibility for specific devices, getting resource kits for Microsoft operating systems, and finding books about Windows NT or other Microsoft products.

Contact an on-line forum - You can ask questions in these forums and get answers from fellow support professionals as well as Microsoft engineers. To use these services:

Download drivers and patches from Microsoft - If your problem requires a new or updated driver, or a software patch, you can use the Microsoft Download Service (MSDL). Sample programs, device drivers, patches, software updates, and programming aids can all be retrieved from the service. Direct modem access to MSDL is available by dialing (206) 936-6735. Use 1200, 2400, or 9600 baud, no parity, 8 data bits, and 1 stop bit. This service is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

If, after you have tried all these options, you still cannot resolve your installation and setup problem, you should contact your Microsoft Solution Provider or Field Representative who help initiate the evalaution.
