What's New in Works v. 4.0 for Windows® 95
|
- Microsoft Works 4.0 is a 32-bit application for the Windows
95 operating system.
Now that you've made the switch to Windows 95, you'll want
software applications that take advantage of the benefits of the
new operating system. Works for Windows 95 let's you name your
Works files with easy to read long file names like January
1995 Budget instead of secret codes like janbud96.wks.
Use your right mouse button to get context-sensitive help wherever
you are with whatever you're working on, and Windows 95 Plug &
Play functionality makes it easy to add a modem or other peripherals
to your computer and use Works communication tools to send files
to other computers.
- The New Works Task Launcher
allows you to start work immediately.
As soon as you start the program, Works' new Task Launcher presents
you with a list of the most common computing tasks. You can choose
from nearly 40 TaskWizards,
or use the traditional Works tools: word processor, database,
spreadsheet, drawing and communications. Works TaskWizards complete
nearly 70 common business, home, and education tasks as easily
as clicking a few buttons
write a letter with a stylish letterhead,
create an address book or form letter, send a purchase order or
invoice
or browse for great organizational and time saving
ideas. Works walks you through the process of creating all of
these items quickly and easily.
- Help is always there
.when and where you need it!
Context-sensitive, procedural instructions are always available.
Step-by-Step Help is your
complete guide to the product (and it's even smart about its on-screen
location so that it never covers up your work!). When you try
something new, Works will offer you a demonstration , and Show
Me movies quickly show you how to perform tasks such as setting
tab stops or using drag and drop for easier editing. The Introduction
to Works is a fun and engaging overview of the new product that's
geared for new and experienced users alike.
- Word processing has never been easier
The Works Font Viewer allows you to see all of your available
fonts, as they will appear in your document, so you can choose
the look that's just right for you. Use Easy Formats to add professional
formatting to your document with the click of a button or Easy
Text to save common phrases or paragraphs and reuse them easily
without retyping. Works walks you through the steps of creating
a customized form letter for a mailing, and lets you choose from
lots of different bullet styles, borders, colors, shading, and
shadows.
- Spreadsheets have never been quicker!
Works EasyCalc walks you through the process of using formulas
for quick number-crunching. Use the Equation Editor to add mathematical
symbols and formulas to your documents (great for teachers!),
and edit your formulas or other spreadsheet information directly
in the cell, with no need to use the formula bar. Works lets you
click and drag to automatically extend a series of numbers or
copy a formula to other cells. And just click a toolbar button
to select from a gallery of colorful charts, including 3-D styles,
to show your information graphically.
- Using a database has never been more useful
Works provides several database views for more flexibility: Design
View for creating and changing your database and adding graphics,
Data View for one-screen data entry, and List View for a spreadsheet-like
grid view of your information. Use Works' filters to find just
the information you need in your database. Just click to select
the information you want to see, and the Works' ReportCreator
makes it easier than ever to create a great looking report of
your database information. Works' new envelope and label creator
provides a step-by-step process for getting just the look you
want for your mailings.
