• Using Microsoft Publisher, have students write a biography of each family member. They can design the cover and chapter-by-chapter headings, and import humorous (or serious) clip art that has special meaning to each family member. Students and parents will cherish this professional-looking book for years to come.
• Create a brochure for a historical event. Use an electronic reference tool such as Microsoft Encarta, Microsoft Bookshelf, or an on-line service to research the event. Use the 3-fold brochure PageWizard in Publisher to make a brochure to advertise your historical event. You can extend the activity with any of the following activities: make a map or a travel poster; conduct an oral presentation; create stories, tales and myths; create a travel video.
• Have your students create a handbook for next year's students, including important rules, maps, fun things to do at school, extra-curricular activities, etc. Have students write short biographies on each teacher and include in the handbook.
