Welcome to the Educational Telecommunications Services Home Page. Educational Telecommunications encompasses a variety of non-broadcast programming, production and service functions at the Telecommunications Center.

Services include operation of the campus Media Distribution Center. The Media Distribution Center serves all faculty, staff, and students of Ohio University. The media center provides the campus with the following services:

Closed circuit television services to most buildings on campus.
A videotape library featuring a wide selection of educational programs.
Camcorder recordings of special university events.
Assistance in acquiring programs for class use.
Non-broadcast studio productions.
And videotape duplications of non-copyrighted programs.

The Telecommunications Center also facilities the reception of live, interactive satellite teleconferences for the university and regional communities. We work with university departments, cooperating institutions and other clients to identify available videoconferences and promote their use. These videoconferences support lifelong learning, extending the impact of the university's teaching and service activities.

Teleconferences have dealt with a wide variety of issues in education, business, politics, health, the environment and the impact of new technologies. This service is a very valuable tool in bringing special interest groups together, and for sharing information nationwide. The Center also has the capability of originating teleconferences where appropriate.
