Geosciences
The Department of Geosciences offers majors in the Atmospheric and Geological
Sciences leading to the Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Science, Master of
Science and Doctor of Philosophy degrees. The Atmospheric Sciences and
Geology-Geophysics Options in the major are designed to prepare students for
work as professional meteorologists and geoscientists in a wide range of
disciplines, including weather forecasting and analysis, air pollution
meteorology, hydrogeology, engineering geoscience, petroleum or mineral
exploration and development, environmental geoscience, and other facets of
applied geosciences. The General Option in the major is designed for
students, including primary and secondary school teachers, who have a
broad interest in the Earth sciences.
