Brief History
The Urban Studies Program is an interdisciplinary program designed to prepare students for research and scholarship on urban society. A unique feature of the program is the emphasis on the historical and sociological dimensions of urban life as the intellectual foundation for the development of social policy. Students completing the program will be prepared for positions in a variety of governmental and private agencies as well as for academic positions in the disciplines that are related to urban studies.

COURSE REQUIREMENTS & SPECIALIZATIONS
The Ph.D. program requires a total of 33 credits (approx. 11 courses) with at least 3 courses taken in a chosen
specialization, and 6 required core courses.
The M.S. program consists of a total of 30 credits (approx. 10 courses) with a required 6 core courses. The remaining courses can be taken from a generalist or specialist tract.
