UWM WWW Server Moved
Emergency WWW Server Computer Change
At about 4PM on Wednesday February 21,
our production WWW server
was moved to a different computer
as part of emergency maintenance to correct recent problems with our
Alpha computers. The "official" name remains "www.uwm.edu" and the
change should be transparent to most people.
Files on the Alpha did not move, you can continue to work with your
WWW files in exactly the same way you have been. However, anyone
using the actual computer name ("alpha2.csd.uwm.edu") for any links
will need to change to "www.uwm.edu" which always points to the actual
computer or computers currently running our WWW server.
If you notice any problems that may have resulted from this change,
please report them by help@csd,uwm.edu or
by phone to our Unix Consulting desk at x5370 (414-229-5370).
We regret any inconvenience and apologize for the short notice.
We hope this move will result in better computer service to all
of our users.
