Ekonomicentrum Software Development Group

ECSDG is a software development group at Holger Crafoords Ekonomicentrum, Lund University. ECSDG develops software in order to support, make it easier and possible to retreive information in the areas of research and education. Software, documentation and reports are sometimes donated to the public domain, i.e. free and without restrictions. In most cases, there exists a copyright, but the program/document is still freely available to the academic community.

The work of ECSDG is aimed, in descending priority, at the following communities as long as the budget permits :-(NIL right now!):

  • Holger Crafoords Ekonomicentrum
  • Lund University
  • Other Swedish universities
  • Foreign universities
  • Others that find the results interesting or useful

    What is done

  • Progress Gateway
    • A gateway program that makes it possible to retreive data from a remote generic DBMS (DataBase Management System).
  • WWW NNTP
    • The introduction to a Multimedia Usenet News reader.
  • NCSA Mosaic/Swe
    • Translation and adaptation of the famous and popular NCSA Mosaic into Swedish.
  • Swedish Gopher
    • This is a link to a directory containing the latest Gopher+ distribution from U. of Minnesota along with a Swedish translation "add-on" (locale file). The distribution includes both server software for UNIX and client software for UNIX and VMS.
  • The ECSDG CD-ROM Project
    • This is just an idea yet!

    Financial Contributions are Welcome

    As software development requires some money that we don't have, ECSDG will gladly accept contributions from the Swedish industry, universities, federal organisations etc. Please contact our chairman Jörgen Norén if you would like to be a part of the future development of Sweden and the international Internet community!
