Together with Juerg Nievergelt I work on the wide spectrum of teaching computer
science and the use of advanced technologies. In cooperation with Karl Frey (Institute
for Behavioral Sciences, ETH Zürich) and Urs Kirchgraber (Mathematics, ETH Zürich) we develop teaching materials for introductory computer science taught
at various levels. A number schools use our consulting services.
Jointly with Urs Kirchgraber and Juerg Nievergelt I organize the seminar
"Mathematik, Informatik und Unterricht". This sequence of talks on topics of general
interest to mathematics and computer science teachers regularly draws an
audience of about one hundred teachers from all across Switzerland.
In March we organized the second one-week computer science workshop
restricted to female students of high schools that prepare for university (jointly
organized with the Youth Research Foundation "Schweizer Jugend Forscht").
In September we organize a short course for the continuing education of computer sciences teachers from industry and technical schools.
Providing teaching materials on the World Wide Web is our most current project. Our goal is to install an interactive server acting as a clearing centre for teaching materials.
