Three positions of two and three year durations are now available working in Control, Computer Vision and Software Architecture disciplines applied to unmanned underwater vehicles, and their sensing and manipulation systems. Candidates are required to have a good honours degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering or related subject. Real-time C and MATLAB programming experience would be an advantage. With the exception of postdoctoral appointments, successful candidates will be expected to register for a higher degree.

Research Associate

Parallel Databases - Database Research Group

Salary in the range 14,317 to 17,466 pounds

A research associate is sought to join the Mercury project funded by the European Union to develop analytic performance modelling tools for parallel database systems. The research will be carried out on commercial parallel relational databases and will involve collaboration with partners in England, France and Holland.

Applicants should have a good degree in Computer Science or a related discipline, preferably at the postgraduate level, together with relevant experience in at least one of databases, parallel systems, or C++. The position is for two years, starting as soon as possible, with a salary in the range 14,317 to 17,466 pounds. The selected candidate will have the opportunity to register for a higher degree by research.
