Modem Based Dedicated Service

Sirius Connections offers private-line PPP accounts with dedicated phone lines, modems/ISDN terminal adapters, and IP addresses for individuals or organizations that wish to maintain a 24-hours-a-day Internet presence.

These are ideal services for businesses or professionals who require on-demand access to the Net, or organizations wishing to publish their information to the rest of the world. These accounts are suitable for running ftp, http, email-lists (majordomo), and other services which need to run around the clock with a stable IP address. Sirius can also register your own private domain name (for example, your_domain.com) and provide primary DNS service for a onetime charge of $75 per domain entry.

The 14.4k and 28.8k modem accounts include a private modem and phone line at Sirius, along with one fixed IP address. Customers may call in at any time, or leave the connection up continuously. Sirius provides one email account, user@sirius.com, and the customer can optionally establish their own custom domain which will pass all email to their mail host.

For example, if the customer chooses custom_domain.com, and announces to the world user1@custom_domain.com, user2@custom_domain.com, and info@custom_domain.com, all replies will be spooled into their custom_domain mail file. This is useful for small business or organizations that want to set up one machine as an in-house 'Internet gateway'. The individual ISDN service is identical to modem-based services, but offers higher speed digital connections using ISDN equipment.

Local Area Network Dedicated Services

Local Area Network (LAN) service can connect your entire organization. It is set up so any machine at your site can instantly access other Internet services without call setup delays or logins to intermediate hosts. This service includes at Sirius' premises the necessary modem or ISDN equipment and routers, along with a dedicated line, and a separate IP addresses routed to your network.

Customers can then connect part or all of their ethernet LANS to their own router, which provides Internet access right to the 'desktop' using any number of graphical client applications. Customers may also consider setting up their own FTP or WWW servers which will be available to associates, traveling employees, or the rest of the world.

Sirius also offers dedicated Centrex ISDN extensions to sites within the San Francisco area that substitute for expensive leased lines while offering unlimited ISDN connectivity. A business located within the same PacBell central office as Sirius can stay connected 24 hours per day with less than $35/month ISDN charges.

Customers then simply dial a four-digit extension, which our equipment answers, and the entire ISDN connection is made in-house, as opposed to an outside business line. This connection can be left running all year long, if desired, with no additional connect-time charges. Sirius can provide additional details about Centrex service ordering and billing procedures.
