Other Lists and Search Engines

Try CUSI, 'a unified interface for several search engines that do resource discovery in the Web'...a collection of a fair number of search indeces (that's a plural for index...) LOOK AT THIS FIRST!! There are quite a few indices here. BTW, CUSI stands for 'Configurable Unified Search Interface'.
Have a look at Yahoo (there is a list here with over 5000 items, among other things, such as a 'hierarchial breakdown of the links that have been collected there) or The World Wide Web Worm (not W3, but W4...)
