ROE - Popular Observing

Popular Observing

During the autumn and winter the Royal Observatory Visitor Centre organises popular observing sessions for the public.

Monday - Thursday please phone the Visitor Centre around 4.00pm to book a visit for that evening. We cannot take bookings further in advance due to the unpredictable nature of the weather. Having booked, we recommend that viewing commences around 7.00pm - 7.30pm, with a session normally lasting for about one hour.

Friday evenings the telescopes are always staffed, 7.00pm - 9.00pm, and it is therefore not necessary to book.

Price, #1.50 per visitor.
The telescopes normally used are two 6" refractors, offering superb views of objects such as nebulae, other galaxies, the moons of Jupiter, rings of Saturn, and of course the craters on the Moon.
