Upon completion of this course, the student should be able to...
- Write programs with the X/Motif to create a user interface with buttons, sliders, text editors, menus, dialog boxes, and other widgets
- Write programs which combine the IRIS GL objects and OSF/Motif widgets in the same shell widget
Prerequisites
This course is intended for...
- Programmers who will be writing user interfaces
- Students who are familiar enough with UNIX to manipulate directories and edit files
- Students with C programming skills. These skills are necessary and will be used in class.
Note: Course is NOT taught in FORTRAN
Note: The student is over-qualified if he/she can
write programs which create a Motif user interface
with menu systems, dialogs, and other interactive widgets.
It is helpful...
- If the student has taken Graphics Library Programming 1 (T4-CHOICE) or has equivalent experience. It will be helpful for one section of the course, but not necessary to successfully complete the course
- If the student has knowledge of the X Window System and resource management
Note: This is not a course in Xlib, UIL
or any user interface builder.
Note: Extending the widget set is not included in
the course syllabus.
