Self-Paced Maintenance for the Personal IRIS (T4-IM2)
This Self-Paced System Maintenance for the
Personal IRIS course teaches field engineers and
service personnel how to perform maintenance on a
Personal IRIS Workstation. Through a combination of
video-taped lecture, demonstrations and labs, students
learn to install, configure, troubleshoot, and verify the
proper operation of the IRIS workstation. Malfunctions are
simulated so the student is encouraged to review the entire
documentation provided.

Objectives
Upon completion of this course, the student should be able to...
- Meet the requirements for certification of Basic Support
- Isolate failures to a single Field Replaceable Unit (FRU)
- Given a list of Personal IRIS workstation manuals, correctly name and explain the use and contents of each manual
- Demonstrate that he/she has developed basic skills that will allow him/her to gather required status information, monitor system activity, create system backup tapes, rebuild/restore system disk drives, edit system files, and run high level system diagnostics and demo programs
Prerequisites
This course is intended for...
- Field or service engineers who are responsible for remedial or preventive maintenance on Personal IRIS workstations
- Students that have experience with UNIX or IRIX operations that traverse the filesystem, create, modify and remove files, and edit text (vi text editor preferred)
And have attended...
Note: The student is over-qualified if he/she is already
servicing the POWER or Professional Series workstations.
