You need not read the User's Manual to use Harvest. For a quick start, we suggest you begin with the Harvest installation instructions. These instructions will walk you through the steps needed to install and make basic use of Harvest. You can then refer to the User's Manual for details about making more sophisticated use of the system.
A site with httpd already installed should be able to get Harvest installed and running in about 30 minutes using the above installation instructions and the binary software distributions.
For sites that have not upgraded to v1.2, the v1.1 User's Manual is available here. If you're still running v1.0, you should upgrade. V1.0->1.1 was a big improvement.
