by Odd de Presno.

[Pencil drawing]

The Online World resources handbook book deals with the practical sides of using the GLOBAL online information resource as seen from an international perspective.

It explores selected applications across network and service boundaries showing how such needs can be met. The examples range from databases to entertainment and the bizarre to special services for professionals and organizations. Click here to browse the book's contents.

The book can be retrieved by modem from a number of networks and online services around the world. If you are new to retrieval of files over the networks, and have problems, consult one of the following help texts: General help, and help for Macintosh users. If you are set to retrieve files using your WWW browser, just click here for a 383 KB zipped copy of version 2.0. You can also retrieve and read the 856 KB online.txt, a clean ASCII file (version 2.0).

The Online World resources handbook is being distributed as shareware. If you register your copy, then we will reward you with one or more free copies of The Online World Monitor newsletter, a companion product.

Your registration will support regular updates of the text. A new version is being published every second month. Given the dynamic nature of the subject area, this is indeed a big job. Click here for a list of important changes by version number.

The Online World handbook is part of a larger project working to publish local print versions in contries around the world. If you are a writer living in a country not listed, then we invite you to consider becoming a partner. If you are a publisher, you may also want to read this. There are some partners who are still looking for a publisher.

Finally, the handbook's mailing list is the first place where news about new versions are being published. Also, you may want to check out a recent press release, and read what readers say about the book.

I hope that you will enjoy reading it!

Yours,

Odd de Presno
