The Strategic Planning Program (SPP), formerly the Forest and Rangeland Resources Assessment Program (FRRAP), is the strategic planning and resources assessment arm of the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection. In this critical role, SPP analyzes trends in the state's natural resource systems, in economic and social environments, and public needs. In turn, SPP identifies alternative programmatic responses to these changes. SPP continues former responsibilities for monitoring and assessment of condition and the availability of wildland resources at a statewide level. This responsibility includes the development of computerized geographic information system data bases and analysis software.
