Welcome to the home page of the first(I think) Cyberspace Explorer Post, Post 512, Santa Clara County Council, BSA, sponsored by IBM Almaden Research Center, San Jose, CA.
This post is in existence to expand the boundaries of knowledge about the Information superhighway in general, and the Internet in particular. The post plans to sponsor a WEB server for Exploring throughout the U.S. and also provide Internet access for our members. We currently plan to hold meeting twice a month, probably on Tuesdays, though this is not firm yet. Meeting will allow Post members a chance to meet each other in person, and also a place to try out tools like Mosaic, that require high speed Internet access.
As a member, you'll be able to log onto our AIX server to surf the Internet, read Scouting news, and exchange mail with other Explorers. You'll learn more about the World Wide Web and Mosaic. You'll find out what the Internet gopher digs up! You'll learn about newsgroups and mailing lists.
Membership in this post is open to all Exploring eligible you, regardless of where they live or whether or not they can attend meetings in person. You'll be able to attend meetings by telnet or dial in via modem.
