MAGNETIC RESONANCE IMAGING (MRI): Radford Community Hospital. The mobile MRI scanner accesses two natural forces (magnetic fields and radio waves) to visualize soft tissue, muscle, fat and internal organs without the use of x-rays. VIVA CLUB: Radford Community Hospital's health and how-to association with emphasis on wellness and personal services for people 55 and over. Broad range of health-related benefits offered including screenings and insurance assistance. Information, call 731-2558, Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. - 5 p.m.

VASCULAR SERVICES: Radford Community Hospital. Tests conducted document the presence and extent of vein and artery disorders. Color flow duplex technology used in carotid scans, vein imaging, and bypass graft imaging are read by a vascular surgeon and performed without injections or penetration to the skin.

MEALS-ON-WHEELS: Radford Community Hospital. Meals prepared under supervision of registered dieticians and delivered by volunteers 365 days per year to home-bound persons or those with limited abilities. Call 731-2562 for application/information.

NEUROLOGY: Radford Community Hospital. Laboratory directed by board-certified neurologist. Offers diagnostic tests to record electrical activity of the brain and nerves in the central and peripheral nervous systems to evaluate various neurological diseases and conditions. Physician referral is required.

EXTENDED CARE: Specialized personal and 24-hour medical care for residents in need of intermediate or skilled care levels. Assistance with daily living needs as well as rehabilitation therapy, speech therapy and personalized dietary needs. Social and independent activities planned, including family social events. ENLIGHTENED HEARTS SUPPORT GROUP: Third Monday of each month. Support group for individuals who have heart disease or have experienced a heart attack, bypass surgery, or angioplasty. Family members may participate as well. Information, call 731-2380.

CENTER FOR REHABILITATIVE MEDICINE COMMUNITY EDUCATION SERIES : The Center for Rehabilitative Medicine, a department of Radford Community Hospital, is sponsoring an educational series on coping with pain. The free program emphasis is on disease processes, medication management, and stress reduction.
