Earth Sciences and Resources Institute
University-based geoscience research applied to fossil fuel,
mineral, geothermal, and environmental assessment
The Earth Sciences and Resources Institute (ESRI) was
established in 1973 as an independent research organization at the University of South Carolina. In 1993 ESRI established a second
base of operations at the
University of
Utah. The Institute has two main areas of focus: it conducts
national and international multidisciplinary research related to the
earth sciences, including the disciplines of geology, geohydrology,
geothermal, geophysics, and geochemistry; and it provides educational
opportunities for advanced degrees in technical and managerial
preparation for students working on projects within these and related
disciplines.
