Fisk University, which opened its doors as Fisk School to a student body of former slaves in 1866, is a small, predominantly African American institution with a strong liberal arts and science emphasis. The campus is located on a hill overlooking downtown Nashville, Tennessee. For the fourth consecutive year, Fisk has been named by Money magazine as one of the "best values in higher education." This year, Fisk is celebrating the Tenth Anniversary of the presidency of Dr. Henry Ponder.
