Philosophy and Positions

The elaboration of these principles into positions on many specific issues is contained in the Platform adopted in convention every two years.

The LP Program is a statement of the Party's recommendations on several issues of current concern, adopted by the LNC (Libertarian National Committee).

In presidential election years, the convention adopts a National Campaign Platform in conjunction with the nomination of its presidential candidate.

Other official LP positions are stated in the form of resolutions adopted by the LNC; these statements and those of party officials and spokespersons are often reported in the form of press releases.

The LP also publishes a variety of introductory literature designed to introduce Libertarian ideas and positions to voters and prospective members.
