VR World '95 Conference and Exhibition

"The Promise is in Sight"

The acknowledged exhibition and business forum for the commercial Virtual Reality industry! Devoted to the market development of virtual reality, cyberspace, artificial reality and virtual environments; Mecklermedia's annual West Coast event provides the information necessary to achieve the potential and promise of VR technologies.

Now in its sixth year, this ever-growing event draws customers, suppliers, developers, toolmakers, researchers, financiers, entrepreneurs, and end-users together to catalyze VR market growth. Session topics emphasize vertical markets and applications. Day- long panels have been scheduled with the world's leaders in VR market breakdowns: Entertainment (Out-of-Home and In-Home), Design (Industrial and Architectural), Networking (Televirtual Experiences), Medicine, Disabilities, Training and Education. Application developers from one market have rich opportunities to learn from experiences of developers in other market lines at this conference.

All attendees have the opportunity to see and trial-test the latest Virtual Reality technologies on the world's largest VR exhibit floor. The technologies discussed by speakers on the program range from immersive to non-immersive. From low-end garage, to commercial desktop to workstation to supercomputer. Component technologies are also reviewed - including 3D graphics and 3D sound. Over 100 speakers on four simultaneous tracks plus preconference workshops.

Conference Overview

A special workshop tutorial day opens the conference on May 22. A day-long introduction (VR 101) is scheduled for those who are attending a virtual reality conference for the first time. A special "How to select a Headmount" session reviews actual HMDs as well as providing products to "try on". Specialized software workshops are provided. A one-day "VR Startups and Entrepreneurship" is provided to assist those who are planning to begin a VR business.

General Conference Program, May 23, 24, 25

The general seminar program includes several vertical market business conferences: Entertainment (consumer and out-of-home), Medicine, Disabilities, Networking, The Internet, Training, Design, Museums, Garage and Low-Cost, and Desktop (Immersive & Non-Immersive). Session speakers are the leading developers or toolmakers in their respective fields. Analysts from various markets also provide business perspective on the product development cycle. Dr. Thomas Furness will present the Keynote speech, Tuesday, May 23. Renowned and respected in the Virtual Reality and Virtual Worlds community, Dr. Furness is the director of the Human Interface Technology Laboratory at the University of Washington.

Virtual Reality Video Festival, May 23, 7:00 PM -- 9:00 PM
